Parks & Recreation

The Sabetha Parks and Recreation Department offers a year- round program for people of all ages in and around Sabetha.  Current programs for youth include:  baseball, softball, soccer, swimming lessons, swim team, and a skate park.  Programs for adults include:  volleyball (co-rec and women’s) leagues, basketball, and fitness classes.  The department has hosted a number of special events including softball tournaments, soccer clinics, baseball clinics and swimming meets.

The department manages the operation of a number of facilities and grounds.  The Mid Town Building houses a full gym for indoor walking. Both are used for free play, leagues, class and other activities.

4 ball diamonds and the Somerset Park Legion Baseball Field. Somerset Park is the home field for the Sabetha American Legion Baseball Team and the Sabetha High School Baseball & Softball Team. The SHS Baseball team is back to back state champs!! It is also the home of the  Sabetha Bravos a semi collegiate team.  The sports Complex also hosts fall soccer.

More about Somerset Park

Somerset Park was built in 2007.  It was judged best in the state!  It has seating for approximately 300 spectators with 73 chair-backed seats from Old Comisky Park (former home of the Chicago White Sox).  There are additional concrete and non-concrete areas for lawn chairs, as well as being able to see the action from your vehicle.  There have been crowds in excess of 750.  In 2011, artificial field turf was installed in the infield area.  It is the home of the Sabetha American Legion baseball programs and has hosted many tournaments, including the AA Kansas American Legion State Tournaments on three different occasions.  It has also been utilized by colleges from North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska and Kansas.
 

Sabetha Aquatic Park

  • Wet bubble wh ich is a soft, slippery vinyl dome in the pool with 10 water jets spraying on it from different angles
  • 1 meter and 3 meter diving boards with Dura Safe padding underneath for protecting against slips and falls
  • Flume body slide measuring at 25 feet high and 176 feet in length , must be at lea st
  • 48” to slide
  • Family slide measuring at 14 feet high and 45 feet in leng th , must be at least 42” to slide with an adult or 48” to slide by yourself
  • Offers public and private swim lessons, water aerobics, and private pool parties after hours
